About Monroe Housing Authority

Established in 1942, MHA has set a standard of excellence which makes it a model housing agency by national standards. It has consistently been awarded a "High Performer" award by the Department of Housing and Urban Development from the implementation of the award in 1992 until present day.

MHA owns and manages 1,522 residences for lower income family housing which includes 230 residences for the elderly and 30 residences for the developmentally disabled. In addition, MHA administers Section 8 (Housing Voucher Choice) subsidy programs for another 1,495 families. The Monroe Housing Authority also manages a collection of 620 non-profit and tax credit residences for senior citizens.
